About this event

Description

Nov 10 - Dec 15

5:30pm - 6:15pmCarnegie Building

Our understanding of the prehistoric world is brought to life by artists! Discover the relationship between science and art from taking a fossil from the field to displaying it in a museum. In this program, participants will explore how Paleoartists recreate a forgotten time, from the halls of a museum to Hollywood. During this program, we will learn about fossil preparation, molding and casting. Students will try their hands at sculpting, life drawing, life restoration, and learn about dinosaur anatomy and how modern technology helps both the art and science of paleontology. Using our museum collection of skulls and other elements we will explore how artists create museum displays. At the end of the program, you will paint your own 3D printed dinosaur fossil to keep!
