This 1,000-hour program prepares students to take the Massachusetts State Board exam and become a licensed Cosmetologist. Students are taught to create and design, using hair, skin and nails as their creative medium. Instruction is given in all areas of Cosmetology. This includes styling, shaping, and coloring of hair; the use of skin products and makeup; and the care of hair, skin and nails. There is in-depth instruction in sanitation, personal and professional health, decontamination and control, properties of the hair and all aspects of caring for hair, including cutting, coloring, as well as styling. Shop management and related business practices are also stressed throughout the course. At the conclusion of the course, students will be qualified to sit for the Operator-Type 2 licensing exam in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Apprenticeship Opportunities: After completing 600 hours of class training, engage in our Apprenticeship Program where you can apply your skills directly with clients in a real-world salon environment. This hands-on experience not only enhances your readiness for the state board exam but also allows you to earn while you learn, gaining invaluable practical experience and building a client base even before graduation.
