Urban Riding & Climbing Adventure Camp This exciting camp combines Velo Kids’ proven Urban Riding program in the morning with an afternoon of climbing fun at Scrapyard Climbing! All biking and climbing abilities welcome! Morning: Urban Riding Adventure Designed to teach young riders how to navigate a downtown environment safely and confidently, our morning bike sessions focus on growing bike handling skills, mastering group riding techniques, and developing the ability to ride on city streets. Campers will explore the community through engaging, adventure-based activities while learning bike safety, skills, and stewardship. Campers will be grouped by ability, with assessments to help determine readiness to move to more advanced groups in the future. Afternoon: Climbing at Scrapyard After the morning ride, Scrapyard staff will pick up campers and take them to their climbing facility, where they’ll enjoy lunch before diving into climbing activities. Afternoon climbing sessions feature the same high-quality instruction, games, and coaching as Scrapyard’s full-day camps, providing a perfect opportunity for campers to progress in their climbing skills. What to Bring: For Biking: A positive attitude! A helmet and a functioning bike (ideally with gears). Don’t have one? Borrow from our Bike Library! (Contact emily@velo-kids.org if a bike or helmet is needed.) For Climbing: Bagged Lunch Comfortable athletic clothing. Climbing shoes (if available) or clean athletic shoes. A water bottle and any additional snacks.
