Ever dream of creating your own beautiful woven fabric and home decor? Our awesome instructor is ready to show you the ropes—well yarn actually! Designed to make you fall in love with weaving, this 4-week class will have you weaving day 1. You’ll learn how to thread a loom, choose the perfect fibers, and unleash your inner artist with colors and patterns galore.
Topics Covered
- Brief history of weaving and how weaving developed around the world in different forms
- Examine yarn types (wool, cotton, synthetics) and characteristics (burn test)
- Weaving terminology
- Loom parts and tools
- Basic structure of plain weave interlacement
- Resources for inspiration and learning more about weaving: books, magazines, web sites, etc.
- Teach simple project planning
- Set up and thread table loom
- Teach about proper beat for balanced weave, how to create good selvedge, experiment with yarns and plain weave structure.
