Sewing 1 is required to take full advantage of your class time
Delve into more advanced sewing techniques and detailed finishes as you focus on more complex patterns, such as a button-down shirt, and how to alter pants. In addition, you will select a project of your choice from an existing pattern. Our experienced instructor will help guide your choices.

- How to sew buttonholes
- Discussion of different fabric choices and their challenges
- Understanding existing patterns and how to alter them
- Upcycling and alterations
- Planning sewing projects
- Lining and Interfacing
- Discussing yardage, thread, needle, and notions needs
- Bias tape applied to clothing
- Cuffs and collars
- How to check tension for your chosen fabric
- Finishing techniques- such as French seams
- Share what you learn as you sew and learn from your classmates
Projects may include
- Customized bag
- How to alter pants (Bring in a pair that are not quite right and fix them!)
- Button down shirt with collar and cuffs
- Project of your choice
