Basic Carpentry Skills 102 courses serve as a review and opportunity to practice the basic carpentry concepts learned in our 101 class. We will review layout, cutting, and fastening, all while building an elevated planter box called a trug that students will take home after class. These skills are highly transferable to a wide range of carpentry, woodworking, and DIY projects. After this course, students will feel refreshed on their ability to safely use a range of hand and power tools and will understand the fundamentals of construction. The 2-day Basic Carpentry Skills 101 course is a prerequisite for this class. Students will build their own elevated planter out of 1x and 2x material. The planter serves as a good refresher of cross-cutting, ripping, and cutting angles. Students under 18 may attend with parental permission.
