About this event
Fly fishing 101 is a fast paced beginning class. 7 sessions cover everything from the basic “how to set up your first rod and reel” to knot tying; an introduction to entomology—and how that affects fly patterns—and, of course, casting lessons. Sessions include field trips for those things that can’t be learned in the classroom so set aside a weekend or two! The goal? Learn the skills that allow 10% of anglers to catch 90% of the fish! Classroom Sessions (SMN 225) Oct 29, Nov 5, Nov 12, Dec 3 – 7:10–9:00 PM Field Trips / Labs (Off-Campus) Nov 8 – 9:00–11:00 AM Nov 22 – 9 AM–2 PM Dec 13 – 9 AM–2 PM Class is limited to 14 students. Some equipment will be available for use on campus. Otherwise, students will need to provide their own gear for field trips. Recommendations, sources and a supply list will be discussed in the first session. Field trips may involve a significant amount of travel and students will have to make all their own travel arrangements.
