“Who Tells the Story? Researching Native Histories in Federal Archives”

Anthropologist Dr. David G. Lewis (Oregon State University) offers a behind-the-scenes look at how research using federal records, oral histories, and tribal sources can help reconstruct suppressed Indigenous histories. This session invites attendees to reflect on whose voices have shaped the historical narratives they’ve learned—and why that matters.
