Clay Craft 2.0 September 23 to October 30th 6:30-8:15 $165 Ready to take your pottery skills to the next level? This class serves as an extension of the Moving Mud class. Over this 6-week course, we will refresh basics wheels skills and build new skills around centering, pulling, shaping, trimming, and glazing. Every class will include an introductory talk and/or slideshow to provide a theoretical backbone for instruction. Students will work on four projects: mugs, large bowls, vases, and jars. Class goals: • Strengthen a working understanding of pottery terminology and process. • Further practice major steps of the wheel-thrown pottery process including wedging, centering, opening, pulling, ribbing, trimming, handling, bisque firing, glazing, glaze firing, and cleaning. • Learn how to apply specific technical skills and meet individual artistic goals. • Focused engagement with the larger landscape of American ceramics through presentation. • Successfully complete four projects: mugs, large bowls, vases, and jars. • Promote an atmosphere of respect and positivity in the classroom and encourage one another in the learning process.
