11/3-11/19 Mon/Weds 6:30-8:30 Welcome to a “special topics” ceramic class! This abbreviated class format delves deeply into a specific topic not usually covered in Intermediate or Advanced classes. Special Topics classes are a great way to try new approaches to making pots, expand your technical repertoire, and take risks. Handles can be tricky. A good handle must fit the pot it's on, feel good in the hand, and be strong enough to use. In this class we will do a deep dive into all aspects of how to design and execute a good handle. Most of the sessions will be spent on attaching and pulling handles, but some time will also be spent discussing other methods of handle making. Topics will include clay selection, choosing shape and location, pulling, proper attachments, and drying. Participants should already have wheel experience.
