First introduced during the summer of 2020, this year we’re finally bringing it back: the Watermelon Decorating Contest! Just like its more famous cousin, the Pumpkin Decorating Contest held each fall, this is a chance for individuals or families to show off their creativity by decorating a large piece of fruit. Decorate your watermelon on Thursday, July 3rd from 1 0 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Rhein Center or at your cottage anytime before the drop-off on Friday, July 4th between 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. at the Hoover Lobby (West). Tools, limited supplies and space provided by the Rhein Center if you decorate there. If you don't have one, watermelons will be available to purchase at the Rhein Center (while supplies last). Return to the Hoover Porch at 4:00 p.m. July 4th for the awards ceremony and watermelon display. All entrants receive a mini-golf coupon. The winners of seven categories will receive a free daily gate pass. The overall winner receives two daily gate passes. Categories include: Best Overall Most Lakeside-Inspired Most Patriotic Best Painted Best Carved Best Use of Props Best Teen Entry Best Child Entry
