About this event
This partial semester class will provide an overview of monotype, or monoprint, printmaking techniques. Known as “the painterly print”, students will utilize botanical imagery and color palettes to create a print that is unique every time. Painting techniques such as layering and color theory can enhance the prints, using soft printing papers that lend themselves to soft transitions, high contrast, and delicate lines. Students can expect to create a few unique compositions, or use the printing press and “ghost” prints to build up the same composition in differing ways. All experience levels are welcome, and ideal for any type of painter. The printmaking studio utilizes non-toxic materials; all students are asked to review the 2025-26 printmaking studio guidelines (provided upon registration) ahead of their first class in the space.
