Lincoln City Parks and Rec is hosting a Know Your Rights presentation on May 17, 2025 after the Spring Family Fest.
This FREE event does not require registration.
The attorney will explain what constitutional rights every person living in the US has and how to exercise those rights. Learn how to interact with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers, local police. Discover how Oregon’s Sanctuary State status works to protect Oregonians. The presentation is in English and Spanish and appropriate for both children and adults. Presented by Kate Sinkins, Esquire
Kate Sinkins earned her undergraduate degree in Political Science from Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, IN and her law degree from American University’s Washington College of Law in Washington D.C. During her 2nd and 3rd year of law school, she drafted decisions for immigration judges at the Arlington, VA Immigration Court. Upon graduation, she clerked at the Baltimore, MD Immigration Court through the Department of Justice Honors Program. She has represented both immigrant children and adults in private practice, worked for two faith-based nonprofit immigration organizations and worked as an asylum officer, a policy analyst and an immigration attorney for 3 federal agencies. She has given more than 15 Know Your Rights presentations in Virginia and Oregon in English and Spanish. She is a member of the Virginia Bar.

Kate Sinkins obtuvo su licenciatura en Ciencias Políticas de Saint Mary's College en Notre Dame, IN y su título de abogado de la American University's Washington College of Law en Washington D.C.
