The theme of this educator day is perspectives. At UCLA Lab School, literacy instruction seamlessly integrates reading, writing, and dialogue with identity development and social-emotional learning. As students engage with diverse texts and media, they use their full linguistic repertoire to explore multiple perspectives, build empathy, and expand their sense of self and community. Educators will observe lessons from TK–6, reflect, and debrief with colleagues—leaving with fresh ideas for connecting literacy growth with students’ identity and socioemotional well-being.
