Description
“Une fois n’est pas coutume” as we say in French. For once, our museum visit will focus on non-French works, namely Japanese woodblock prints. We will talk about the medium, the artists and subject matter, putting things in context for a deeper appreciation. There are works by Hiroshige and Hokusai in the exhibit, but also Yoshitoshi and Toyokuni. French Impressionism was much influenced by ukiyo-e prints so we will pretend we are in Paris looking at these “estampes”. Your guide has lived in Japan and has a Master’s in printmaking. You will be responsible for the parking fee remaining after validation. Let’s meet by the entrance by the parking side a little before 11 am. In French, for advanced levels.
