About this event
Old Rag Master Naturalists and the Hoover Ridge Park will be hosting a Fall bird walk along the Red Trail on October 18th! Hoover Ridge Park is one of the largest outdoor recreational areas in Madison County. It encompasses almost 182 acres. Once you turn on to the road for Hoover Ridge Park, follow it around until you get to Camp Crockett. The Bird Walk will begin at 9:00 am at the Camp Crockett Pavilion. We will follow the red trail approximately one mile through the woods looking and listening for birds. Participants should wear comfortable shoes/boots. A walking stick may be helpful and bring a hat and binoculars if you have them. We recommend you load the App "Merlin" onto your phone so you can use that to help identify some of the more “secretive” birds at Hoover Ridge. During our last bird walk at Hoover Ridge, we saw 25 species of birds including: Bluebirds, Nuthatches, Chickadees, Cardinals, Titmouse’s, Red Bellied Woodpeckers, Blue Jays and Ravens. A port-a-potty is located at our starting point. Trip leaders: Alan Edmunds https://www.oldragmasternaturalists.org/ Please let me know if you have any questions. Alan Edmunds - President ORMN
