Description

Nighttime is the right time to beat the heat and experience the desert's unique beauty! The desert is particularly enchanting at night and even more so under the glow of an (almost) full moon. Enjoy breathtaking views of the night sky and surrounding cityscape.
We will provide two hiking options!
The Classic hike goes up to the bench on Wild Mustang Trail (Orange trail on the Hiking the Tortolita Mountains trail map) by way of the Community Path, Hotel Spur, and Upper Javelina Trails (Red trail). This hike is approximately 3.5 miles long with about 800' hard fought elevation gain. This will be a challenging hike with a slower pace so plan on 3 hours.
Option #2 is the Mellow Hike. We will stick to the Wild Burro Trail (purple on the Hiking the Tortolitas trail map) and hike out to the Cayton Line Shack. This hike is also approximately 3.5 miles with very little elevation gain. This will take about 2.5 hours.
Bring lots of water, wear suitable hiking shoes or boots, a headlamp or flashlight and meet at the Wild Burro Trailhead.
