About this event
Everyday phenomena like students lining up next to the vending machine or playing in the playground can appear mundane but can yield fruitful results when we look at them in specific ways. Inspired by graduate level ethnographic research methods class, this project aims to show high school students how to systematically observe and record their surroundings through an ethnographic lens in the field of anthropology. This project will introduce students to basic ecological and critical approaches and concepts in observational-ethnographic research. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to record the studied environment in a systematic way. Upon analyzing the observed phenomenon, students will have the opportunity to present and discuss what they have recorded under the guidance of the advisor.
