In the Biology Olympiad Club, students will deepen their passion for biology while preparing for the USA Biology Olympiad (USABO)—a nationally and internationally recognized competition with awards available at every stage. The first round of the USABO consists of multiple-choice questions. Students who advance to later rounds will encounter a mix of multiple-choice, true/false, and short-answer questions. In the fall, we’ll focus on topics not typically covered in depth in Honors or AP Biology, including plant biology, the immune system, the nervous system, and advanced biochemistry. As the year progresses, we’ll shift into exam prep mode, working through practice problem sets and reviewing key content. After the February exam, those who advance will continue preparing for future rounds, while the rest of the club will resume exploring new topics.
