Event details and schedule
Basic Rule and Info (subject to change with notice during the contest period)
-
There will be two divisions - an upper division for more experienced players, and a lower division for more beginner and intermediate players.
-
If we do not get enough registrants in each division, we will combine the divisions into one division for the tournament.
-
Teams will be guaranteed two matches through the first and second round of the tournament. Teams who win their first round matchup will stay in the main bracket, and teams who lose their first round matchup will be moved to the consolation bracket. Starting in the second round, if a team loses, they will be eliminated from the tournament. The winner of the main bracket will then face the winner of the consolation bracket to determine the champion for each division.
-
Teams will self-coordinate with their opponents to play matches on their own date & time choosing. Home court is Dickman Park, 614 2nd St NE, Minneapolis, or at a location of their choosing. The time to complete each round may vary depending on the number of teams who register, but will be appx 1 week per round. The winning team will then reach out to tournament officials to inform who will be moving on to the next round.
-
We will reach out to teams at the beginning of each round with their opponent, and a deadline to have the round completed. We will do our best to match up teams with similar timing preferences, but if the match has not been completed and the deadline has passed, we will flip a coin to determine which team will move onto the next round. Both teams must make a good faith effort to schedule and complete their matchup, but if one team is being difficult to schedule with, please reach out to tournament officials and we will determine the best course of action.
-
The rules for matches will follow the official rules according to USA Pickleball, which can be found here: https://usapickleball.org/what-is-pickleball/official-rules/
-
Traditional Side-Out Scoring : Points are scored only by the serving team.
-
Games are played to 11 points, win by 2.
-
Best-of-three games to determine who will move on to the next round.
