This program aims to teach core traditional techniques while finishing one polished artwork each week. By the end of the six sessions, students will have a solid art foundation while learning about different mediums and how to create artwork with any medium of their choice. Week 1 – Drawing Foundations Materials: pencils, erasers, paper Skills: contour drawing, shading, proportion Project: Still-life sketch of simple objects Week 2 – Charcoal & Shading Materials: charcoal, blending stumps, large paper Skills: light vs. shadow, texture, contrast Project: Dramatic animal or object rendering in charcoal Week 3 – Ink & Markers Materials: black pens, brush pens, markers Skills: line variation, hatching, layering colors Project: Stylized cityscape or abstract pattern Week 4 – Pastels & Color Theory Materials: oil pastels / chalk pastels Skills: blending colors, warm vs cool palettes, textures Project: Pastel sunset landscape or fruit bowl Week 5 – Acrylic Paint & Mixed Media Materials: watercolor paints, ink pens Skills: washes, layering, ink & watercolor combos Project: Watercolor + ink illustration (nature theme) Week 6 – Bristol Board Model Making Materials; Bristol board, glue, construction paper, scissors Skills: structure, planning, refinement Project: building a model of an inorganic form like a car a lamp or a house
