Description
There is anecdotal evidence that Richmond Hill, the highest hill in Richmond, has been a place of prayer for several millennia. Native Americans have confirmed this use of the hill when the land was still known as Tsenacomoco. The hill overlooks the Falls of the James and faces the setting sun.
Founded in 1987 in Richmond, Virginia, Richmond Hill is an ecumenical Christian fellowship and residential community who serve as stewards of an urban retreat center within the setting of a historic monastery. Richmond Hill is an ecumenical fellowship, residence, and urban retreat center. The St. John's Church Historic District in Richmond includes several churches of various denominations, including this former Catholic convent and school which is a contributing property that continues to address the area's spiritual and educational needs.
Richmond Hill sponsors retreats and classes for the public, and offers schools of Spiritual Guidance, Christian Healing Prayer, Vocation, and Race & Justice. Private retreats, spiritual guidance, and healing prayer are available for individuals. Presentation by Lauranett Lee, Director of Social Justice for Richmond Hill Retreat Center
