An introduction to basic quilting techniques. No previous quilting experience needed. A sewing machine and basic sewing machine skills are required. See online description for techniques taught and material list for a 36x36-inch quilt. Instructor is Lisa Schott.
Project: 36 x 36-inch holiday quilt
Techniques that will be taught include:1. Using a rotary cutter and cutting mat with quilt ruler.2. Sewing an accurate, consistent ¼” seam.3. Nesting seams like a pro.4. Making a small quilt measuring 36 x 36 inches (larger if you decide to add a border).
Material list:1. Sewing machine, a ¼” foot is useful but not required.2. Fabric: a prepared kit will be offered for $20 (materials for front of quilt will be supplied in kit) at the first class. One yard of backing will be needed but can be purchased at a later date (so you can choose what you like for the backing).3. If you have it, a rotary cutter and mat.4. If you have it, a small iron and pressing mat.An iron and ironing board, rotary cutter and mat will be provided in the classroom.
