In ASL 2, high school students will build on the foundational skills learned in ASL 1, expanding their ability to communicate fluently and confidently in American Sign Language. Through more advanced vocabulary, grammar, and conversational techniques, students will deepen their understanding of ASL structure and begin to explore more complex topics such as storytelling, facial expressions, and non-manual signals. The course will continue to emphasize cultural awareness, helping students appreciate the nuances of Deaf culture and engage with the Deaf community in a respectful and meaningful way. With greater emphasis on real-life conversations and group interaction, students will work towards becoming more proficient in using ASL for a variety of practical and social situations, while continuing to gain insight into the rich history and traditions of the Deaf world. Students in ASL II must have taken ASL I. ​**HS credit will require practice work to be completed outside of class. Optional practice work will be given to all students. Teacher: Angie Gomez
