About this event
Students will begin with the use of hand tools and learning the basics of measuring, fastening, and sawing as they create and assemble through our project-based curriculum. They will progress to the use of light power tools, learning to read and create plans for their work, and learning when accuracy matters. In learning to read plans, we focus on how to realize a two-dimensional drawing into a three-dimensional object while incorporating lessons in applied geometry. While part of our goal is to teach students the mechanics of how to create with wood as a primary material, this is really a vehicle for building self-confidence, patience, perseverance, and understanding that making mistakes is part of the learning process. This is a 6 SESSION WORKSHOP - Sept 5, 12, 19, 26, Oct 3, 10. **All Friday workshops include a break for lunch and supervised outdoor or indoor free time with friends!
