Chess is the classic thinking person's game! Students learn openings, traps, and strategies while growing in a variety of skills, including visualization, critical thinking, good sportsmanship, and problem solving. Each class would also offer plenty of playing time. In addition to chess, this year we are adding in the world of classic card games! In this interactive and social class, students will discover and play timeless card games that have been enjoyed by people of all ages for generations. From popular favorites like Poker and Blackjack to strategy games like Malarkey and Egyptian Rat Cube, students will learn the rules, tactics, and cultural context of these beloved games. Class Objectives Learn the rules and objectives of classic card games Develop social skills, sportsmanship, and teamwork through gameplay Improve critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities Understand the cultural and historical context of classic card games Make new friends and have fun in a relaxed and supportive environment.
