Find your voice and learn to use it well—your voice matters! This language arts class will include reading, writing, vocabulary, and grammar. Each semester, high school students will read two whole books and one short story. In addition, they will read various poetry, speeches, articles, and a play. Numerous genres will be covered. Students will write weekly one-paragraph personal reflections or literary analyses. Four larger projects/essays will be due quarterly. Class time each week will be centered around discussion as we learn how to read deeply, think widely, and express ourselves distinctly. Grammar will be completed through weekly lessons online. Students will do up to 3 hours of homework outside of class and will need to use Google Classroom. This course is designed to satisfy one high school English credit. Teacher: Kendra Andrus
