About this event
Pack your imagination and your creativity for A Day in Mexico, a one-day cultural adventure for K–2nd grade students led by Curve art teacher Val Smith! In this vibrant, hands-on workshop, students will dive into the rich traditions of Mexico through colorful art and tasty cooking projects. They’ll create their own Mini Mexican Amate Paintings, inspired by traditional bark painting, and bring nature to life with John Parra-inspired pastel garden scenes, reflecting the beauty of Mexican flora through the eyes of a celebrated illustrator. In the kitchen, students will mix, roll, and bake their own churros, and whip up a flavorful elote dip, a kid-friendly twist on the classic Mexican street corn. It’s a joyful day of creativity, culture, and connection—perfect for young learners ready to explore the world through their hands and hearts! **All Friday workshops include a break for lunch and outside/inside play with friends.
