Stories have lasting power: power to teach, power to heal, power to inspire, and power to transform. In this class, middle school students will encounter the power of stories in various genres like memoir/biography, historical fiction, fantasy/sci-fi, realism, and poetry. We will read books and discuss and analyze them, write personal reflections about them, and create our own stories through journaling. Students will have quarterly major projects in which they will write their own stories: one-pager book report, 3-paragraph essay, speech with research, and personal narrative. This class will include vocabulary, grammar, and poetry as well. Students will do 2-3 hours of homework outside of class and will need to use Google Classroom. Teacher: Kendra Andrus
