Step into the exciting world of theater production in this hands-on class designed for students who want to create the magic that happens behind the curtain! From building and painting sets to creating props, mastering stage lighting and sound, and exploring basic stage makeup techniques, this class covers it all. Students will work as part of a creative team to bring the school’s theatrical productions to life. They’ll learn the fundamentals of set construction, design principles, and safe tool use. We’ll dive into the art of lighting and sound design to enhance the mood and storytelling of a performance. Plus, they’ll get a chance to explore stage makeup, learning techniques to transform actors into their characters. This class is perfect for anyone who loves to build, create, and collaborate. By the end of the year, students will have hands-on experience in theater production and a chance to see their hard work come to life on stage. Let’s make the magic happen! This class will not involve “homework” but students will be invited to attend tech week rehearsals and performances for our musical theater productions as “stage crew.” Teacher: Mel McLellan
