Didn’t your parents ever tell you not to play with your food? Well, at Silly Science Camp, we break that rule—all in the name of discovery! Each week, young scientists will dive into exciting experiments that use food to explore real science concepts. We’ll make edible slime to investigate non-Newtonian fluids, grow rock candy crystals to learn about saturation and crystallization, and blow up balloons with yeast in a fizzy fermentation experiment. Campers will get hands-on with candy chromatography, separating the colors in Skittles or M&Ms to discover how mixtures work. Ever seen popcorn dance? We’ll create a bubbling reaction using baking soda and vinegar that makes kernels move and jump! We’ll also turn citrus fruits into power sources by building a fruit battery to light up a small LED—introducing campers to simple circuits and conductivity. Other tasty activities include gummy bear osmosis labs, building edible DNA models, and even mixing layered density drinks. With every experiment, kids will be exploring chemistry, physics, and biology in a deliciously silly, hands-on way. Come curious—leave sticky, smiley, and a whole lot smarter!
