Week 1 – Pinch Pot Monster Cup: Kids will learn the pinch pot method and turn their creations into silly monster cups with eyes, teeth, and textured details. Week 2 – Slab Animal Wall Hanging: Students use slabs to design an animal face or nature scene to hang on the wall. We'll explore texture tools and patterns. Week 3 – Coil-Built Treasure Bowl: They'll roll coils of clay and stack them into a spiral or swirl bowl. Optional: add small sculpted elements like gems or snakes! Week 4 – Glazing Session 1: We'll glaze the first projects that have been bisque fired. Students choose colors and learn how glazes work. Week 5 – Tiny Clay Village: Each student makes 2–3 small houses or buildings to create a miniature clay village. Great for storytelling and imagination. Week 6 – Nature-Pressed Tiles: Using leaves, shells, and natural objects, kids will make a set of textured tiles that can be displayed or hung together. Week 7 – Glazing Session 2: Glaze projects from the past two weeks. Week 8 – Clay Critter Sculptures: Kids will sculpt small animals or mythical creatures using handbuilding techniques and basic armature support. Week 9 – Slab Mug or Pencil Holder: Using rolled slabs and scoring techniques, students will make a functional mug or desk organizer. Week 10 – Glazing Session 3: Glaze and decorate fired pieces from the past two weeks. Week 11 – Ceramic Medallions or Name Plaques: Kids will press designs and words into clay to make hanging medallions or name plaques. Great surface design practice! Week 12 – Seasonal Project: Stoneware ornaments. Kids will create a set of 6 keepsake ornaments and texturize and embellish them. Week 13 – Mini Clay Pet Planters: Students create small animal-shaped pinch pots that double as mini planters. Once fired and glazed, they can take it home and add a small plant or succulent.
