About this event
Create a portrait of a loved one, friend, or yourself in clay! Students can choose their own subject and bring photographs to work from* Artists don’t always have access to live models and using photographs also allows the artist to sculpt expressions that a model cannot hold for extended periods of time. In this course you will learn how best to use photos for reference and how to analyze them to understand the forms you are sculpting. Sculpting in clay, you’ll learn to create a likeness of a face. Students will gain an understanding of facial anatomy and learn techniques of figure modeling and creating textures in clay. Completed work will be fired. All levels are welcome - whether you have no experience with sculpture or want to refine your existing skills with a close study of a face. There will be individual attention to each student's project within a supportive class environment. *Students can supply their own reference photos. Instructions on recommended angles of subject, lighting, and how to photograph for capturing details will be sent to students prior to the class. 25 lb bag of clay included Clay tools will be available for use in class Supplies: Bring photos of your chosen subject (printed out on standard 8x11 paper)
