4 Mondays, July 7 - 28, 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm A Happy Mess in Pastel Class Taught by Judith Chamberlin, 18 + $108 Member / $ 119 Non-member The object of my class is to introduce my students to the technique that makes a piece of pastel art varied and interesting. We will discuss the material used in pastels and the ways in which they are handled. Using the inforamation presented the students will be able to produce a finished piece they can be proud of. Pastels can be messy but the results can be brilliant, especially the colors. The Newark Arts Alliance will retain a $5 cancellation fee if a student withdraws from a class. As a child growing up in NY city, Judith loved visiting art museums and galleries. Her aunt Jan was an extraordinary artist, and Judith always had a collection of her paintings. Her muse? After a family move to Pittsburgh, she started taking workshops to improve her skills. She has had the opportunity to study oils, watercolor, acrylics, pastels and other media with renowned art instructors in the United States, Europe and South America. She has been in galleries in Charleston, South Carolina where she became a serious painter. There,she began teaching pastel artwork to adults. Before she moved to Millcroft, she was teaching pastels at a retirement community in Mt. Pleasant South Carolina.
