6 Mondays, September 15 - October 27, 1:00 - 3:00 pm A Happy Mess in Pastel Class Taught by Judith Chamberlin, 18+ $152 Member / $167 Non-member The object of my class is to introduce my students to the technique that makes a piece of pastel art varied and interesting. We will discuss the material used in pastels and the ways in which they are handled. Using the information presented the students will be able to produce a finished piece they can be proud of. (There will not be a class on October 13.) The Newark Arts Alliance will retain a $5 cancellation fee if a student withdraws from a class. As a child growing up in NY city, I loved visiting art museums and galleries. My aunt Jan was an extraordinary artist, and I have always had a collection of her paintings. My muse? When my family moved to Pittsburgh, I started taking workshops to improve my skills. I have had the opportunity to study oils, watercolor, acrylics, pastels and other media with renowned art instructors in the United States, Europe and South America. I have been in galleries when I live in Charleston, South Carolina when I became a serious painter. There, I was in galleries and began teaching pastel artwork to adults. Before I moved to Millcroft, I was teaching pastels at a retirement community in Mt. Pleasant South Carolina.
