Spanning 4,273 feet through the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Blue Ridge Tunnel “was the longest tunnel in the United States and one of the longest in the world” when completed in 1858. Explore this historic, engineering landmark by embarking on an approximate three-mile hike that will take you through the tunnel from the east portal. Afterwards, head for a late-lunch at the Blue Mountain Brewery at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
