Join an environmental educator and the Department of Wildlife Resources Fisheries Biologist Johnathan Harris on an adventure down to Falling Creek to learn all about electrofishing. Johnathan will walk participants through what equipment he uses and why fish biologists (also known as ichthyologists) do electrofishing surveys to catch fish. Then, we will do an electrofishing survey in Falling Creek and collect data on the fish we catch! Be prepared to handle and get up close with our fish friends. Closed-toed shoes and clothes you can get muddy in are required.
Program Information:-Program is held outdoors. -Closed toed shoes are required. -Distance traveled will be between 0.50 and 0.75 miles. -Outdoor surfaces traveled on in this program include: paved trails, dirt trails, and around creeks with mud and vegetation. -This program includes visual, tactile, and auditory elements.
