Hike the Old Hotel Trail and Appalachian Trail that winds through the Mount Pleasant National Scenic Area. This six-mile hike of moderate difficulty takes you through mountain meadows, a virgin hardwood forest along Little Cove Creek and to the airy summit of Cole Mountain which affords a panoramic view of the Shenandoah Valley and the Piedmont. Total hiking distance is about six miles with almost 1500 feet of elevation gain. Minimum age is 15.
