Overview: Ready to dive into the world of Mahjong? In this fun and easy-to-follow 2-class series, we'll take you from "What's a Pong?" to "I'm a Mahjong Master!" Each class is packed with hands-on learning, strategy tips, and plenty of fun as you discover the fascinating world of Chinese Mahjong.
Whether you're brand new to the game or just need a refresher, this course will take you step-by-step through the basics. By the end, you'll be playing confidently and ready to join any game!
Class 1: "Tile Talk: Getting to Know Your Mahjong Set - Building Hands: Pongs, Chows and Strategy (part 1)"
We'll start with the basics - learn about the Mahjong tiles, their types, and how the game is structured. You'll understand how the game works and play a simple mock round to get comfortable with the flow. We'll dive into the core of the game - practice creating Pongs, Chows, and other combinations in fun, interactive exercises.
Class 2: "Building Hands: Pongs, Chows, and Strategy (part 2) + The Winning Hand"
Now that you're familiar with the tiles, we'll do a quick review of the prior week. In this final class, you'll put everything together! You'll play a full round with guidance, learn how to score points, and see how strategies work in practice. By the end of this session, you'll feel confident enough to play in any Mahjong game with friends or family!
