AHA Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider. The BLS Instructor-led course teaches both single- and duo- rescuer and basic life support skills for application in both pre-hospital and in-facility environments, with a focus on High-Quality CPR and team dynamics. Cards are good for two years after successful completion of the course and in-class written exam. Karl Finley, an EMT/paramedic who has served as a volunteer fireman with the Scarborough Fire Department for more than 20 years, previously spent 19 years at the Saco Fire Department. He has 11 years of experience instructing CPR and has been the public education coordinator for nine years.
