Description
Discover the joy of playing the violin in this beginner-friendly class! No prior music experience is needed. You’ll explore folk music, learn tunes by ear, and get a basic introduction to music theory. Materials will be available on the class YouTube channel for practice. The instructor recommends renting a violin from RL Ray Violin Shop ($30/month) and purchasing an adjustable shoulder rest before class; rental details are provided upon registration. If you have prior experience and your own violin, it must be inspected for playability by a professional. Join us for a supportive, fun musical journey! Instructor: Pamela Margon
Participants must bring their own violin (or rent one - $25 for the month from RL Ray Violins) and adjustable shoulder rest (KUN, Everest, or FOM brands, or similar) to the first class. If you are using a personal or family violin, please bring it to RL Ray Violin Shop, prior to the first class, to have it tuned and inspected. If the violin is not in playing condition, and recommended repairs cannot be made, please rent a violin instead. Additional recommended supplies (optional): Handheld recording device (phone or otherwise), notebook, pencil. Instructor: Pamela Margon, www.olyfiddle.com
