Join us at MacPhail Center for Music for Opera Talks, an enriching hour-long online discussion held leading up to each The Met Opera: Live in HD broadcast. These pre-performance talks offer a captivating introduction to the featured opera, featuring an exploration of the composer’s life and work, the historical and cultural background of the piece, and an overview of the opera’s plot and key musical moments.
Whether you're a seasoned opera-goer or new to the art form, these sessions will deepen your understanding and enhance your viewing experience. Led by the knowledgeable Sarah Stephens, Opera Talks invites you to discover the stories behind the spectacle and gain a richer appreciation for one of the world’s greatest musical traditions: opera! The presenter will also discuss the different voice types and the skills needed for operatic singing.
Registrants can register for the complete package of Opera Talks, or individually. Cost: $30 per presentation.
