This two day course is designed to build on the concepts and techniques established in Level I & II. It includes both theory and hands on practice. It is held at the Macphail Woods Ecological Forestry Project. The day begins with a quick review of chainsaw safety basics and then a discussion about the different types of hazardous trees and methods for dealing with them. The rest of the day is spent outside. Participants will learn how deal with small diameter back leaners, heavily loaded forward leaning trees and finally how to deal with trees that have been hung up; lifting, rolling, dropping and scissor cuts. This will be spread over the two days. WE WILL PROVIDE: chainsaws and chainsaw helmets, if you need one. YOU MUST BRING: Leg protection (either chainsaw pants or chainsaw chaps); either chainsaw boots or steel toes; gloves if you want them.
