Enjoy a FREE day at Rueter-Hess Reservoir for Parker. As members of the Rueter-Hess Recreation Advisory Board, Parker Parks and Recreation is waiving the entrance fee for Parker on this day only. Registrants may enjoy paddle boarding (SUP), kayaking, canoeing, trail hiking/biking, or even just appreciate nature with a picnic and a walk around the site.New this year – fishing is available for 50 adult anglers and unlimited youth anglers. Fishing permits and tacklebox inspections are required.
For those wishing to paddle board, canoe or kayak, participants may provide their own watercraft and have it inspected on-site. Surf’SUP will also have paddleboards, kayaks, a canoe, two pedal pontoons, and two row boats available for rent. Pre-reserve your watercraft and/or life jackets here!
All personal watercraft, fishing licenses and tackle boxes will be inspected by a certified inspector. If any potential issues are discovered, your watercraft may not be allowed into the reservoir to avoid any type of invasive species problem.
At the reservoir, a 1.8-mile (3.6 miles out and back) portion of the trail is complete and ready for hiking and mountain biking. A limited amount of shaded seating is available.
Space is limited to 200 cars.
- Walk-up registration is NOT available.
- Park Rangers will be onsite while the reservoir is open for recreation to ensure fun and safety. However, no lifeguards are on duty, and all activities are at your own risk.
- Because Rueter-Hess is a drinking water storage facility, only clean and dry recreation equipment can access the water. All watercrafts must pass an invasive species (ANS) inspection before accessing the water. No motors or sail boats will be allowed. Swimming is prohibited.
- No rafts or inflatable tubes.
- Life jackets are required. You will not be allowed on the water without one. Parking closest to the beach is a five-minute walk. Additional parking is up to 10 minutes away. You will be able to drop off gear near the shoreline and return to the parking lot(s). Due to limited parking space there will be no trailer parking available.
- Dogs on a leash are allowed in designated areas only. They are not allowed in the water under any circumstances.
- Fishing by Reservation Only
- For picnics, please be prepared to “Pack it in and pack it out.” No alcoholic beverages, drugs, or glass bottles are allowed.
In order to accommodate as many cars as possible, if you are no longer able to attend, please contact Sarah at sarmsbury@parkerco.gov or 303.805.3273 to remove your information from the list.
