This course will begin with fashion figure drawing. Students will practice drawing figures in standing poses, and gain an understanding of proportion, balance line, and basic light and shadow. The course will then progress into learning to draw different poses, how fabric drapes on the human form, and the techniques to render different fabric types using marker, gel pens, and colored pencils. Students will complete a series of fashion illustrations throughout the course, using different drawing tools to effectively capture the energy of different poses, fabrics, and silhouettes. They will begin to explore finding their own fashion illustration style by looking to artists whose work they admire and developing their own techniques. The course will culminate in a final project where they will create a fashion illustration in their chosen medium, in their newly developed illustration style.
