Join the after-school Mountain Bike Club! Led by Assistant Teacher, Paul Boyed (Snowdrop), students from 6-8th grade are invited to bring their bikes and learn how to ride the trails of the Wissahickon Valley Park. Students will learn how to safely prepare for a trail ride, practice the technical skills of common obstacles, demonstrate proper trail etiquette, and perform basic bike maintenance. Riding will occur primarily on Forbidden Drive and the White Trail, between Historic Rittenhouse Town and the Frog Pond. We’ll adjust our routes as needed, based on the group’s level of experience. Paul has been riding the single track and gravel paths of Belmont and the Wissahickon for 10 years. He has been a volunteer mechanic at bicycle non-profits, Neighborhood Bike Works and Recycle Bicycle. In addition to mountain biking, he enjoys long haul bike-packing and teaching toddlers how to start pedaling!
