Grades 9th-12th Current 8th graders may rise into this show. Recent graduates (seniors) may also register. It's time to carry the banner on your stage with Disney's Newsies! Set in turn-of-the century New York City, Newsies is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a band of teenaged "newsies." When titans of publishing raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions and fight for what's right! AUDITIONS: Monday, 7/14, 10am-1pm Material: Full Audition Packets will be posted on your Google Classroom. Students will sing a selection from the show and should be ready to perform sides at the audition. Submit your audition form, headshot, and resume on your Google Classroom. REHEARSALS: M-F, starting 7/21; 12:30pm-6:30pm SET BUILD: Saturday, 7/26, 10am-1pm. (This may also be used for additional rehearsal time. All students and one parent per actor are required to attend.) PERFORMANCE DATES: Fri 8/1 @7PM, Sat 8/2 @2PM & 7PM, Sun 8/3 @3PM ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Genesis provides costumes—supplemental items & shoes from your wardrobe. Students are required to be present at all rehearsals and shows. Please do not schedule any appointments or events for your student during this rehearsal period. Please send a snack, a personal water bottle, and a pencil each day to rehearsal. Please help your student at home to memorize their lines. Tickets will be available for purchase online.
