In addition to the two class sessions there will be one, 4 hour session on wild ice. Classroom sessions include detailed discussions of the equipment required to navigate wild ice, the characteristics of natural ice and how Maine's ever changing weather creates the conditions for safe skating throughout the winter. Most importantly, students will learn the basic techniques to assess wild ice to determine it's strength.
