If you haven't gotten around yet to transforming that stack of graphic t-shirts into a quilt, then this fall is the time to do it. You could cut all the shirts the same size to create the typical checkerboard pattern, but we will be pushing your creativity and keeping more of the image in the process. Your finished quilts will have people asking 'how did you do that?' To begin, you will need either • a cotton-backed fusible facing (Pellon SF101, or 44) to iron onto the back of the cut pieces, or • spray tack and cotton to back each t-shirt. Amounts will vary depending on the number of t-shirts and the size of your finished quilt. • t-shirts • your favorite sewing tools (rotary cutters, blades, cutting mats), notions, and thread • your sewing maching Later you will need • fabric to back your quilt (yardage will be determined by your finished size).
