Description

Please join us for the next Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Academy! CERT educates people in the community about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area (e.g. earthquakes or fires) and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.

Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT members are also encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community.

Time: 6:30PM-9:00PM
*Participants must attend the first two classes.**Participants can miss one class during the Fall session. Must attend an online make-up class.***Only registered participants will be allowed to attend.
Thursday Classes will be held from 6:30pm to 9:00pm at Sandpiper Community Center, 797 Redwood Shores Pkwy, Redwood City. The Saturday Class will be from 8:30am to 3:30pm and the location will be announced at a later date.
During the Saturday morning session students will have the opportunity to practice the training they received in the classroom, then in the afternoon students will participate in a mock disaster exercise. Participants must complete all classes and Skills Day in order to receive a CERT Certificate of Completion and become a member of the Redwood City and San Carlos CERT Community.
